WNE DIGITAL WALL
Ambassador of France
More than ever, the world must face the growing challenge of the climate emergency. Our society must resolutely embark on a transition towards a low-carbon world and an economy that respects our planet. Recent reports from international organizations such as the OECD-NEA (Nuclear Energy Agency) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) confirm that nuclear energy is a powerful ally not only in the fight against global warming but also in meeting our needs by producing base-load, non-intermittent and competitive electricity which is a perfect complement to renewable energies.
The CEOs and Directors of the WNE's main sponsors wanted to share with you their vision of this low-carbon society and how the WNE fits into this approach in a series of interviews conducted for the Digital WNE of December 8th 2020.
You will find on this page the videos of the sponsors.
To illustrate the fact that the atom is part of tomorrow's solutions, China, Russia, India and Europe (UK, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, the Netherlands) are launching or relaunching ambitious projects to build new nuclear reactors to achieve their climate objectives.
In recent weeks, countries such the United Kingdom or France have sent a strong signal that nuclear energy is essential in tomorrow's world (Energy White Paper, speech by the French President in Le Creusot). Atomic energy will also be part of the challenge of the Green Deal for Europe and the ambitious decisions (green taxonomy) that the European Union plans to implement as of 2022 in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This includes measures taken to encourage companies and countries to accelerate their transition to a greener economy and low-carbon activities.
Companies and operators in the nuclear industry are all committed to safe and efficient nuclear power that meets climate commitments. They are all eager to meet at WNE to debate tomorrow’s challenges.
WNE - World Nuclear Exhibition, is more than ever the event at the service of the worldwide nuclear industry: we look forward to seeing you in Paris from November 30th to December 2nd, for the 2021 edition.
