Mr. Harri Varjonen

Mr. Harri Varjonen, born in 1968, began his career in the nuclear industry as a section head in mechanical maintenance at Olkiluoto Power Plant in Finland more than 2 decades ago, where he was responsible for leading daily mechanical maintenance of two PWR units.

He then served nine (9) years at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a nuclear engineer in the Nuclear Power Engineering Section (NPES) as a Maintenance and Maintenance Management Specialist, including outage-, and maintenance optimization, different welding methodologies for repairing pressurized equipment’s, NDE and ISI. During those nine years, he worked closely through the IAEA Technical Co-operation program with several IAEA Member States and conducted training courses and workshops based on his experience in above mentioned areas. After leaving THE IAEA he started to hold the position of Executive Director at FinNuclear Association, where he brings a wealth of knowledge to the organization.  He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Satakunta University of Applied Science (1995) and a specialized professional degree in management (2007).
