Closing Ceremony

  • Closing Ceremony

  • Ladies and gentlemen, dear visitors and exhibitors The 3rd edition of WNE will be closing within the next hour.

For the whole WNE team, it is a sad moment because we shall have to wait two years before enjoying again such intense 3 days. What soothes us is that we heard only nice comments about the 2018 edition, from all members of this wonderful community. You liked the location, you liked the new format of the workshops, you liked the possibility to interact with the panelists through smartphone questioning, you liked our “first of a kind” guided tours and lunch debates and above all you liked the continuously increasing business networking. And that is exactly the DNA of WNE: business. Business on an international level, business through partnerships, business through innovation.

It shows in the number of contracts – both large (even sometimes very large) and small-,  the number of agreements – like the one between EDF and GE, or by ROSATOM with several exhibitors- , the important announcements – like the creation of the GIFEN, during this 3rd edition of WNE.

It shows in the numbers: there was a big increase in the number of high ranking visitors coming from 62 countries and many of you reported it. Among the high ranking visitors, of course  I have to mention our Minister of Economy and Finance, M. Bruno LE MAIRE, and of the Director General of the IAEA, M. Yukiya AMANO who honored us with their presence for the opening ceremony –and we have another high ranking guest for the closing in a couple of minutes. Both emphasized that nuclear is needed for the long term fight against climate change in support of our banner for this year’s edition: “Nuclear excellence: a new era”.

It encourages us to be even more ambitious for 2020. We have plenty of ideas to continuously reinvent WNE and stick to your points of interest.

I have only one word to add: MERCI!

Have a safe trip back and see you here again in 2020.
