The first nuclear reactors, built in France between 1958 and 1966, belonged to UNGG technology (Uranium Graphite Natural Gas).
Then, EDF has adopted an American technology, more efficient and less expensive: the Pressurized Water Reactor. This technology has been declined on each of the 58 reactors from 1977 to 1999, for a total power of 63 GW. Nogent-sur-Seine production units were commissioned 1987 and 1988. The Nogent sur Seine nuclear power plant belongs to a standardized plant, which enable to pool the engineering, operating and maintenance resources and has for all the nuclear production plant, an important experience return. In 2014, the French nuclear fleet produced 415.9 billion kWh. The Nogent-sur-Seine power plant, however, produced over the same period 16.7 billion kWh, almost 4 % of the EDF French nuclear power production.
