ISO14001 certified since 2003, the Flamanville 1&2 power plant commits to concrete reduction initiatives of its impact on the environment. Thus, the water consumption (25 146 m3 in 2013) has been reduced by nearly 70% since 10 years.
In 2013, more than 92% of the industrial wastes has been recycled and retransformed. The discharges and effluents of the industrial plant are always controlled and systematically inferior to the regulatory limits.
The safety is all the measures implemented by the operator of a nuclear plant in order to protect the human and the environment against the radioactive products dispersion.
With the risks prevention, this is the first priority of the Flamanville EDF teams. The operators’ professionalism of the Flamanville power plant, the improvement systematic research, the good condition of the equipment ensures a good level of safety.
In 2015, the French nuclear fleet produced 416,8 billion of KWh. Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant, however, produced 16,9 TWh, which represents about 4,5% of the total EDF French nuclear power production.
