The first nuclear reactors, built in France between 1958 and 1966, belonged to UNGG sector (Uranium Graphite Natural Gas). Then, EDF has adopted an American technology, more efficient and less expensive: the Pressurized Water Reactor. This technology has been declined on each of the 58 reactors from 1977 to 1999, for a total power of 63 GW .
The two unoits of Civaux Nuclear Power Plant were commissionned in 1997 and 1999.
Civaux Nuclear Power Plant plant belongs to a standardized plant, which enable to pool the engineering, operating and maintenance resources and has for all the nuclear production plant, an important experience return.
In 2015, the French nuclear fleet produced 416,8 billion kWh. Civaux Nuclear Power Plant, howewer, produced 20 billion of kWh, which represents about 4% of the French nuclear production.
